Stephen King's IT could give Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees a run for their money.
IT controls reality, and that's something not even Krueger or Voorhees can escape from.

I hated IT for mainly one reason. The giant spider conclusion. I hated that movie. I would definirely watch the 1st half before the 2nd. I hate the 2nd half. All in all, I loved every part of it up until after they met up and went after him. I hated that idea. What King was thinking there is beyond me. Unfortunately, Stephen King is running out of material. His next book is likely to be a lamp coming to life.

True words there.
However, most support the theory that the giant spider was just another form of IT, not the true essence as that is evil, and, well, evil has no absolute form.
I tend to sympathize with that theory, and also to deny the embarassment of Pennywise the Clown being reduced to a ridiculous Starship Troopers looking insect.
Still, IT was capable of manipulating fragments of reality, thus remains a significant threat to any Horror slasher, or to anyone in general.
