mine was Salem's lot (1982) i watched this in 1983 @ age 7 at my cousins house who was 16 she let me watch itbecause i begged her to because my mom wouldnt let me watch horror movies at the time and it scared the crap out of me at the time and i didnt smile for about 2 years after but it also started my love affair with horror movies that has lasted for 26 years now recently went back and watched it and i thought about it after the second time through i don't know why i thoght that was so scarry. i just wish my first ine was a better movie than that one like the exercist, friday the 13th , or rosemary's baby something good like that

I don't remember exactly the first one. There were several I got to see when I was pretty young - nearly 30 years ago - on a b/w TV when we got HBO (back when HBO was just one channel) for free by an accident of the cable company. I think it was one of two or three around the same time period.
The Hitcher - Original with Rutger Hauer
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2
Something Wicked this Way Comes - Maybe not horror but it scared me... in a good way.

The Hitcher! I prefer the original over the remake for sure. But I'll always be a fan of Sean Bean.
