I want to address an issue that most people have (as far as I've read) about the movie. It seems that most reviews I read, people complain about the random scenes of unconsciousness. After about 24 hours of sleep deprivation, you'd notice the kids having dreams, already. I had never stayed up a full 24 hours before, until just a couple of months ago, and I have an experience I'd like to share.
About 2 months ago, a few friends and I went to Vegas. For the most part, we ordered drinks and walked around. But toward the end of the night, I started to gamble a bit. I won about 150 dollars counting cards at blackjack, which felt amazing. I decided to quit while I was ahead. At about 4 or 5 AM, we decided to head back to the hotel to sleep (we rented a room). I needed the keys to my friends car, because I had left my contact case in it. So after about an hour of walking around the incredibly massive parking lot trying to find his damn car, I finally gave up and decided to head back to the hotel. I didn't want to wake anyone up, so I just decided to gamble a bit more at the blackjack table.
I never realized that counting cards can work so well, and the longer I spent at the table, the more startegy at card counting I developed. I spent about 2-3 hours altogether counting cards at the blackjack table, and left with an extra 1,400 dollars in my pocket. I woke the guys up (because check out time was at about 10 or 11, and it was about that time) and we headed off to a few places before stopping for lunch at around 2PM or so. I kept my sunglasses on, because I had gotten ZERO sleep that night and looked like a zombie. I was awake for 30 hours straight, at the most. We were sitting at a booth. I was sitting straight up at the table, relatively quiet, and kinda sleepy. I was listening to the conversation my friends were having when the waitress walked by and asked me very politely, "Are you still sleeping? Have you decided what you'd like to drink?" I was completely dumbfounded. I asked for a Coke and wondered what she was talking about. My friends, and the waitress, explained to me that they had been trying to get my attention after she originally asked me what I would like to drink. I just had no response. I never even remembered seeing the waitress at all. Apparently, she took everyone's orders and told my friends she would come back for me in a few minutes. I was completely unconscious throughout the entire thing and I don't even remember dozing off, or losing track of their conversation. I apologized to the waitress, who was very kind.
I'm actually shocked at how dead accurate it felt to Nightmare On Elm Street. Both the originals and remake
