I'm going to start off by saying this: If you haven't seen the trailer, don't. If you've seen the trailer, but don't remember much, stay away from it. The trailer gives away the plot twist in the film, and I don't understand why. The IMDb plot outline also gives out the plot twist. The plot outline you see above was made by me to avoid any possible spoiler. Also, I recommend staying away from other reviews of the film because if the plot twist is revealed in the trailer, I'm sure it will be talked about in reviews. My review will not reveal the plot twist.
Indisious had me hooked from the opening moment of the film. The film score is one of the best I have ever heard, in fact, it may be second behind Psycho. I went into this film half-expecting a typical, new-age horror film with random jump scenes and weak dialogue, but 30 seconds into the film, I knew I was in for something completely different. The film's frightening effect is very similar to Paranormal Activity, only this film is far better constructed and it's shot in the third person, rather than from the actual characters. Paranormal Activity's frightening effect relied heavily on first person filming (which wasn't a bad thing), while this film didn't need it. You can see some similarities to Paranormal Activity, but this film was far better constructed with a much more intriguing plot and unique dialogue. Was it as frightening as Paranormal Activity? Possibly not, it depends on the viewer, but this film was far better and a must see, in my opinion.
Insidious may be the greatest horror film I have ever seen in theaters.

That's cool that you liked this one so much. I almost watched it yesterday on your recommendation, but I opted for two others (Source Code and Sucker Punch) that I've been waiting on for a while. I did pick up a couple of posters for Insidious free at the theater and I'll send them to you next time I mail you a goodie box

They haven't given away film posters like that in a LONG time. I think the last time I saw that happen was with The Dark Knight, but I'm not even sure if that's the right film. If Scream has a midnight showing, I'm debating going as Jason.

P.S. - I forgot to give an actual rating. I suppose a high 9, or low 10 is in order.... But there is no low 10, is there? Toughy, I suppose I'll give it a very high 9, and wait for it to settle in. I'm feeling it deserves a 10, but let's see how time responds.

They do it a lot around here but it's rarely something I'd want... the Insidious one is the first one I've grabbed in a long time... it's a cool poster... that's why I got 4 of them I thought you'd probably want one of each... it's a small one around the size of the cards I sent you and then a normal mini poster sized one... of that same theatrical poster as above.
I love the faded or washed out colors they used. That's something I do with a lot of my pictures to give them a little character or edge... really cool.
I really need to see it now... especially since hearing how it compares to Paranormal Activity.

People I know who really dig Paranormal Activity loved this one, just as much, if not more. I enjoyed thie film so much, I left the theater with chills. I almost wanted to buy another ticket and watch it again.
Have you seen the trailer?

Yeah, they showed the trailer before Source Code... I might go see it and Paul tomorrow if I have the energy.

I retracted my vote. I took my brother and his wife to see Insidious, today. I liked the film even more the second time around. Unbelievable. Now I need to give it time to see just how high it will be on my favorite horror films of all time list. There's so much to appreciate about this ifilm.
