I've read a lot of the Avengers comics, so I know a good bit of the backstory on Thor even though I never got into his solo books at all. So when looking forward to the new Thor movie I wasn't expecting a classic, just a good popcorn flick to help lead up to the Avengers film. I was blown away. Some of my favorite subjects back in school was the Greek and Norse mythology so I was super stoked to see how much of the Asgard story was used in the Thor movie. I figured that we'd get to see a few minutes of it to introduce him and then the rest would be on Earth. Not only was the story split equally but both settings were done with the same care as the first Iron Man installment. Chris Hemsworth is now Thor in my mind as much as Robert Downey is Tony Stark. And it never hurts to have a supporting cast that includes Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman. I was already geeking out about the Captain America and Avengers movies coming up... but now I'm literally vibrating from geek-a-ticipation! Loki is a brilliant villain and will be one of the baddies in the Avengers. Hardcore Avengers fans will also have noticed one of the favorite Avengers (that doesn't have his own movie) making a cameo in Thor. Jeremy Renner's character with the bow and arrow is Hawkeye... he is already signed on for the other films. (He's one of my favorite superheroes ever and Renner is perfect for the role.) There were so many things they could have done to mess this movie up... and they managed to do none of them. It gets a 9 from me. Hawkeye

I wasn't as excited as I should have been, for this one. But with my love of Iron Man and deep appreciation for The Incredible Hulk, I knew I had to watch Thor, too, and you can NEVER go wrong with Anthony Hopkins. And I had to see it for other reasons you should know, MIB. ;D It was fantastic! It far exceeded my expectations. The acting was excellent and I also found myself comparing it to Iron Man. My only minor annoyance was Kat Dennings. I've never really cared for the characters she plays in any of her films. It's usually the mid 20s teenager and that got old pretty quickly. All in all, Thor rocked the house. I'll be seeing it again, I'm sure.

I hope you stayed for the end of the credits scene... never leave a Marvel film before all the credits have rolled

Ohh yes, I stayed. ;D I read that something happened after Insidious, too. I'm going to have to go watch it again, just for the credits.

I couldn't get over the line:
"Is this one of Stark's?" "I don't know. The guy never tells me anything"
