October is the ultimate month of all things horror. The October Challenge is simply this: How many horror films can you watch in honor of October? Starting in 2015, the main objective is to try to watch 31 horror films and get in at least 16 new horror films that you haven't seen. Any more viewings will simply add to your total. You can put new viewings in bold, or let us know it's a new viewing in another way. Each participant creates their own topic and will gradually update it with the films watched, the year the film came out and the approximate runtime. For example, if I were to watch Sleepaway Camp, Halloween and Motel Hell tonight, I would update it, like so: Horror Film | Year Released | Runtime | Sleepaway Camp | 1983 | 84 minutes | Halloween | 1978 | 91 minutes | Motel Hell | 1980 | 101 minutes |
The winner wins by the amount of minutes watched, not amount of films. The Exorcist or IT are films that will help you out. Their runtime is quite long. It is early August, so we have almost two months to prepare for this. Feel free to join any time by creating your topic. The contest runs throughout the entire month of October. Are you up for the challenge?

Cool idea... I'll lose to you I'm sure, but I'll enjoy doing it.

I don't know for sure, about that one. I probably enjoy horror more, but who knows just how dedicated I am to until it comes time for the contest.

If it was any type of movie, I'd hold my own since I'm stuck in front of my TV for the majority of my time. I don't have the interest in the wide varieties of horror flicks that you do - I love the creature features like Jaws and Deep Blue Sea and the ghost stories, but the gore fests and slasher films have to catch me just right for me to like them. If you allow monster movies (kaiju) then I might have a fighting chance.

I don't see why those wouldn't count. Monster movies are a form of horror.

Fatal Attraction might be the most terrifying film I've ever seen. I'll probably modify the guidelines for clarity when I think of things. ^^Such as a "What counts as horror" rule. If it's border line, should it be something we all agree is horror? Hmmmm....

I just wasted a few minutes of my life trying to figure out why you would "modify the guidelines for charity..."

I was baffled when I was looking to buy a movie on Amazon and saw that the DVD was deemed "Unacceptable". But then I noticed it actually said "Used-Acceptable"
