BOOM! I was actually just thinking about this the other day. Was wondering if she was still into it or if she maybe took a break or what. Good to see she's moving on up!!

OK... I'm back.
The younger guy is Steve Gordin, a doctor. He is working on his second album which he has asked Marii to play keyboards and do vocals on. He hasn't seen a lot of success yet, but I think the music on his upcoming album is better.
The older gentlemen is Chuck Brown. He was a good friend of the original Marshall Tucker Band members: Toy and Tommy Caldwell. He has traveled and played with them on drums, guitar and mandolin. He's also played with Ricky Skaggs. He's mentioned many others but I either don't remember them or hadn't heard of them. I'll have to say that Chuck is the best guitarist I've ever seen play up close. He's flat out amazing.
The link with Marii and these guys is, again, her amazingly unbelievable family connection with musical greatness. Chuck is her brother-in-law's uncle. He's the one that helped her record that demo she was going to send to the rock n' roll dude (that she never sent). When he heard her sing he kept asking her back to help him with vocals on his projects.
Steve is Chuck's friend (as Steve has locked onto him to play several instruments for his albums). Steve has a concert/competition coming up in March - called Docs that Rock. He's got Marii singing one of his original songs for that. And her and Chuck will play with him on the rest. I'm trying to talk Steve and Marii into doing a duet on one... they sound pretty cool together.
I told them they all should stick together and help each other. Steve has the money, song writing talent and the drive. Chuck has the mad skillz and serious connections. And Marii has come along with the vocals that they fell in love with to bridge it all into one.
Chuck has taken me aside several times and told me that if Marii would go for it she could have it. I keep trying to get her to go all in, but she's been so worn down by her job she hasn't got motivated. I can sense it though... it's there for the taking, it will just mean a ton of hard work.
I have made some recordings of them practicing... they will not let me put anything on YT yet, but when they are ready I'll share. Steve and Chuck have both got me taking pictures for their upcoming albums. (This will be Chuck's first if he and Marii will get on the ball and get it finished.)

The Docs that Rock concert is coming up this next weekend (I think).
After that Chuck (the dude from the Marshall Tucker Band) and Marii are planning to reform into an actual band. They have a bass player and an outstanding drummer. Marii will be the lead singer and Chuck will play all sorts of things depending on the song.
They have been working on a cover of Dolly Parton's Jolene... and it sounds amazing. I'm thinking that will be the first YT thing that they will let me do, but I'm not sure.
They are practicing several times a week now: totaling 9 or 10 hours. It should make for some great music whether they make any money or not. ;D

That is my favorite Dolly Parton song. I look forward to hearing it, as I am also a Marshall Tucker Band fan.

what kind of insurments will they play It's country, southern rock and gospel music. Marii (my wife) will be singing and playing keyboards and maybe tambourine and guitar. Chuck can play anything with strings and the drums which he played for the Marshall Tucker Band. They have a really good drummer and bass player also.

Small world, my first guitar teacher was a former Roady for the Marshall Tucker band. It can be discouraging to put so much of yourself into a peice of music and just have it browsed over on a demo compolation. Trying to get attention on a solo demo can be even harder, my experience is more on the Indy side but I bet the country music industry is even more cut throat. I wish her luck, does she have a demo track I could sample?
