I'm with MIB on this one. I think the entire system is a fraud. I don't believe at all in political parties Republican, Democrat or otherwise. In addition, I also think the whole electoral voting system is stupid. The only thing over the years that has compelled me to vote is the fact that a lot of women fought for me to have the right to do so and therefore I feel it to be an obligation.
I do think that Obama hasn't seemed to do anything since he has been in office. Sure he takes credit for killing Osama Bin Laden, but he didn't kill him....our military did. It's funny how politicians LOVE to take credit for things.
In fact, the first two years all I saw was him parading around as the first black president and continuing to talk about what "he was going to do". . I'm proud that we have come to a point in this country where people will not judge someone by the color of their skin. Trust me...as a woman who has worked in corporate America for over 20 years, and have seen my share of discrimination...I get it.
But at the same time, I can't help but think he should have gotten right to work and not spend an enormous amount of time on countless television shows, etc. Maybe his time could have been better served with overseas relations, strengthening our economy and trying to bring our troops home.
To be even more on point, if you add the first two years of him not doing anything at all to the last year of his campaigning, it adds up to maybe 1 year of work. I bet most Americans would love to only have to work 1 year out of 4 to support their families.
All of this being said, I have two choices. One...I could have a coin toss or I can decide to go with another candidate who may or may not make a difference. Perhaps he won't do anything. Perhaps this time, four years from now all of this will seem all too familiar and we will all be in the same boat or even worse. The fact is, I know what is going on now isn't working.
So...Mr. Obama, if your listening...I think you're right when you say "We need change".

Edit: I meant this post as a response to Jason's last post on this thread. Somehow instead of being my post it got modified onto Jason's. Sorry for modifiying your post J... I didn't change it any... I just got my post out of it.
If it were in Reagan's time this situation would never got anywhere close to what it is today. He would have seen it coming and and cut it off.
I really bad wanted McCain last go around. I don't necessarily feel that the economy would have been any better... different but maybe not better. But one thing is for sure - our military might would have gotten stronger and the conflicts we are in would have had better endings... not to mention the Iran situation being more contained.
I fear that Iran has already caused too much damage... they are the reason the whole region is coming unraveled as we speak. They are piping in weapons to terrorists and dictators pretty much everywhere in the Middle East. This is the real reason we took over Iraq... we had to gain territory on Iran. Problem is Obama yanked us out before the real shit hit the fan.
Ahmadinejad along with the 9/11 events is what caused me to take a large interest in all things Islam - I just wanted to understand why they want to end us so bad. I've bought several thick history books on the religion and the area, and one on Ahmadinejad himself. I've also done a bit of studying in the Koran. This has been some of the scariest reading I've ever done. The religion flat out orders its followers to make everyone in the world either Muslim... or dead. And big A might be the most frightening one of all!

It essential to keep democrats out of office when a war this big is at hand. They have absolutely no backbone. I'll post an article after this post to show you, as I'm sure the media has prevented everyone from seeing it,
Reagan is probably my favorite president. I agreed with him on the issues, but what I liked most wasn't about the issues. It was his integrity. And his love for the country. During his term, Libya killed Americans. He bombed their leader's house. 25 years later, someone apologized. It makes me sick.

The first email was sent at 4:05 p.m. Washington time, about 25 minutes after the attack began, with the subject line "U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi Under Attack (SBU)" It read: "Embassy Tripoli reports approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well. Ambassador Stevens, who is currently in Benghazi, and four COM (chief of mission) personnel are in the compound safe haven." In the flurry of emails that fateful day and night, there was no mention of a protest turned violent by a little-seen, months-old Internet video trailer. But in a third email, sent at 6:07 p.m. to a distribution list that included the White House Situation Room and titled "Update 2: Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack (SBU)," was this gem: "Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli." Granted, false claims of responsibility for terrorist acts are often made and must be verified. But no mentions of the real-time heads-up were made by Obama, Secretary of State Clinton, Press Secretary Jay Carney or U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice. Instead they proceeded for weeks to pursue a lie agreed upon: that a video offensive to Islam prompted the assault that killed our Libyan ambassador and three other Americans. We already knew the CIA station chief in Libya had reported to Washington within 24 hours of the deadly attack that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad. How could emails be sent to the White House Situation Room in real time describing a terrorist attack on sovereign U.S. territory in which four Americans were killed as it happened, and as a drone flew overhead recording the truth of the carnage, and the president and secretary of state insist that it was all about a video and there was no evidence to the contrary? Could it be the cover story was necessary so no one would ask the obvious question of why a rescue or relief mission was not mounted? Retired CIA officer Gary Berntsen, who commanded counterterrorism missions targeting Osama bin Laden and led the team that responded after the bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa, believes help could and should have been sent. Within an hour's flight from Libya, at the large naval air station in Sigonella, Italy, and at bases in nearby Aviano and Souda Bay, were fighters and AC130 gunships that can be extremely effective in dispersing crowds or responding to a terrorist assault. "You find a way to make this happen," Berntsen said. "There isn't a plan for every single engagement. Sometimes you have to be able to make adjustments. They made zero adjustments in this. They stood and they watched and our people died."

They knew about it or the strong possibility of it happening even before those emails. I'd like to believe that their mistake was at least just stupid ignorance... but it seems more and more likely there was some agenda influencing the actions that led to these deaths.

Well, no matter who you voted for... it is all over. That, I'm sure we can all agree is a GREAT thing. I did wind up voting... party wise I'm guessing I went about 50/50. I did vote for Romney as president, though I don't really think he would make an exceptional one.
As we leave all this election BS behind I leave you with a few things to think long and hard about. I have no agenda... and you won't find a less party driven person than me - so the questions I ask have nothing to do with affiliation, but more to do with the direction of our political process - the very ability of the people of the nation to make our government and choose our leaders. I BEG any who come across this post to take the time to contemplate its content deeply.
I give you the facts... then a few questions:
First - As I write this the election is projected to be over by an electorial landslide with ONLY 60% of the votes in. The loser has nearly 200,000 more votes than the winner. Though it is now projected that the winner will wind up with the 'Popular Vote' - Not every presidential candidate with the most actual votes becomes president.
Second - Unless you live in California the state you live in is deemed less important than at least one other state. Most are 2 times less important and some are over 10 times less important.
Third - Under the electoral college system that our president is elected by - many millions of votes DO NOT COUNT in each state. It doesn't matter how politicians spin it THIS IS A FACT! A fact directly contradicting the very reason given for having the electoral college - the protection of smaller states.
Fourth - Voters in each state and D.C. cast ballots selecting electors pledged to presidential and vice presidential candidates. No elector is required by federal law to honor a pledge. Yes, you read that correctly and I encourage you to research it for yourself - No elector is required by federal law to honor a pledge.
Fifth - The people of the United States DO NOT choose the American president - See First through Third - You, if you vote, vote for the pledge of a person who is not held by any means to honor that pledge.
What does all this mean... that is something you have to decide. My opinion is that if we all continue to accept this process and this 2 party system, then nothing will change for the better.
Do you know the elector you voted for? Do you know if that elector voted for the person they pledged to vote for? Why does the ballot not list the name of the elector? Why does the ballot say you are casting your vote for the president when you most certainly are not?
Did the Boston Tea Party truly happen under governmental conditions much worse than what we are blessed with now? Does the American public no longer possess a will to dictate to it's government? How long will we allow ourselves to be distracted by these elections - distracted from the corruption and greed that undermines and degrades our lives, our liberties even our pursuit of happiness? What will it take for a revolution - 10 dollars a gallon? The most important question I'll ask: When is it too late to take action?

Well, I lost every bit of faith I had in my country, today. And I'm ashamed in myself that I have. But it wasn't by choice. With unemployment rising and the country spiraling downhill, America somehow decided to re-elect a criminal, liar and an unpatriotic leader for another 4 years. I was sickened enough that the guy is even a candidate, but he was actually elected? TWICE?!
I've never been more passionate about a candidate than Mitt Romney. I agree with him on nearly all of the major issues regarding America, but aside from that, and possibly the most important, I voted for this man because of his integrity and love for his country. I've never lost faith in my country like the way I did today. I'm already disgusted that Obama is even a politician for this country, but to be elected president? For 8 years?!?! It's shocking, and throughout 4 years of his term, I have not seen him do anything for the United States. He continues to spend my money and apologize on our behalf, and it's sickening. We're already in a deep hole because of him, and it's going to be deeper ten fold, and I just can't stand following it, anymore. To vote for a guy like Obama over a guy like Romney makes me sick to my stomach. I will no longer follow politics.

Jason... don't lose ALL your faith in the country. The PEOPLE are this country... not the government. And like I've said many times we are not given much of a choice. And the way the system is set up even a good man (like you believe Romney is - and I believe Bush Jr. is) is so tied up by politics and utter bullshit that hardly anything can be accomplished.
I am not too disappointed in this election... but it is only because I, literally, expected nothing out of it. I knew Obama would be reelected.
What we need right now is leadership. I don't mean a political leader, I mean somebody who is akin to the forefathers of this Nation... somebody who is not afraid to risk EVERYTHING to start the crumbling change that can strip these greedy, 1%, socialism ranting, rich, bastards of power and give it back to the people.
History is a great teacher, and model. It's not too hard to predict the future by looking backward. What has happened before will happen again... with new wrinkles no doubt... but it will happen. And in times like these where the government has turned its back on its people... the only thing that restores justice is revolution.
I hope that I see it in my lifetime... for I fear if it doesn't happen soon it will be much tougher to change anything. I think it is still possible to reinvent our government with little or no violence, but the time for that is dwindling. We still have the ability to speak, scream, dictate with our wallets... but when they push us down far enough... it will take great might to get back up.
The rich and powerful are smart... they tip toe a fine line between taking everything we have and keeping us on life support. They know if we are backed completely into a corner we will come out biting, gnawing and chewing. We have to be smart enough to say 'ENOUGH' before it gets to that. And it is seriously close right now.
Picket lines, boycotts - LOTS OF BOYCOTTS would go along way. It wouldn't be pretty and sacrifices would be required... but this line of fighting back is easier than what we'd have to do if we let it go farther.
Virtually NONE of our fuel comes from overseas... yet this is what they feed us. None of the prices are set by supply and demand... yet this is what they feed us. The profits gained by this monopoly deemed Big Oil are completely illegal and unconstitutional... but nothing is done to regulate. Why? Because we continue to fill up at whatever price they set.
I'm through now... I'd love to help lead such a revolution, but I don't have nearly the energy or health required. I just hope there is somebody out there that sparks a fire under the American people before it is too late.
