Ever have a friend, coworker or family member say something and you think - That's the quote of the day? Well share it with us here: I'll start it off with something my son David said this week. I was joking around about the 2012 Mayan prophecy thing and he asked was it really going to be the end of the world. I said I don't know but that's what a lot of people are saying. My wife looked at me all petrified like I was scarring our child for life or something... David looks at us both, really thoughtfully, scrunches up his face in inquisitive disgust and asks: "So that means there will be no Christmas?" All he was worried about was all those presents he thinks Santa is bringing.

Perfect reaction. At least he's not worried about it. I'll have to think of something someone said while I'm at work tonight.

I have an add on for David's doomsday quote.
Last night, December 21, 2012... David and me are sitting in front of the TV watching a forgettable bowl game. The wind is gusting outside over 70 mph. Boom! The power goes out... we sit there in darkness for a minute.
"This sucks," says David breaking the silence.
"Yep," I reply.
Another minute or two goes by as our eyes adjust.
"Well, the world didn't end, but the lights did," proclaims my seven year old philosopher.

Haha. That is an even better one. I even liked the "This sucks" line. Perfect way to break the silence

Yeah, it cracked me up. We ended up having a fun family night. David and I had gotten a new dishes set and bath towels for the family Christmas presents and we had them set up to surprise Marii when she got home. She got to see them by candle light.
Then we all bundled up and slept together on a futon spread on the living room floor (even Zero, he snuggled in under the covers too). We stayed warm that way even though it was 25 degrees outside with high winds. You could see your breath in the house by the time the power came back on... around 4-5 am... but we didn't get cold! It was pretty neat and David got a kick out of it all.

Must've been all the body heat under the covers, and I'm sure Zero's breath also helped keep it warm. When the power goes out for a somewhat long period of time, I always think about the lifestyle of the average person during the 1800's. No tv, no video games, no computer, no freaking LIGHT BULB.

Same here... I often think it would be great to have lived in that age or even farther back - before we polluted nearly everything. Zero's breath? That's a whole nother subject all together
