I do like your new smilies. Earlier this year where I live, there was a awesome rain storm that rained so hard, our streets in the downtown area flooded into business and blocked roads. We don't get rain storms like that but, when we do it's mild to what you had.

Sounds like a lot of fun to me too. We have quite a few lightning storms here in the spring and summer. I look forward to them.

There is actual video I found on youtube of this night I described. Not sure whose video this is, but it captured some of the lightning long after it mellowed down. The video doesn't do it justice, either. The storm had long calmed down and wasn't nearly as loud as what I experienced for several straight hours. I swear that thunderstorm pitched a tent right over my house and would only strike within a mile away. Louder than any lightning I've ever heard in my life, by far.
I described in the opening post of this thread that a strike hit at around 4:30 AM as I was looking out the window and nearly knocked me over. lol. There is a small chance that a strike you see in this video is the lightning hitting right near (or on top of) my house.

Cool, I had forgotten about this thread.
I love to watch lightning storms, I wish you got to see more of them. At a safe distance of course. During the first flood of this spring, right at the beginning of the rain, lightning struck our house. Now, we are grounded properly so there was no fire or anything, but it knocked our power out and the surge killed my 60 inch 4k tv and the Internet router. The sound was so loud it was basically inaudible as it made our ears ring. That's the first time since I was a little kid that I've been in a house hit by lightning...which oddly enough happened several times.

Yeah. I assumed you have some stories. You're not all that far off from Tampa Bay, which I hear is one of the most active spots for lightning on Earth.

Haha, yeah we have some spectacular lightning. I'm really nervous and fearful of it as I was camping in Boy Scouts with a kid when he was struck while in his tent (we were also hiding in our tents). He was thrown about a hundred feet onto the ground. He stopped breathing for quite awhile until his tentmate revived him (boy scouts rock). Last I heard he was still pretty much a vegetable though. That gave me a healthy respect for lightning. I still love to watch it.
