Wow!! I'm a pretty big Tom Petty fan! I watched them live (on tv) during Super Bowl XLII and they were fantastic! I was really surprised at how well they still rock the house.
I don't have many stories. But I did see Foreigner about three years ago. I was a bit disappointed before the show considering Lou Gramm wasn't the lead singer anymore. Kelly Hansen is the name of the new frontman. He did fantastic! There were some big time Foreigner fans who went to a ton of their past concerts and a few said it was the best one they'd seen in 25 years. I loved that they had Jason Bonham on drums. (John Bonham's son. John Bonham is my favorite drummer). They did a tribute song for the passing of John Bonham. Misty Mountain Hop, and it was amazing. It blew me away. Jason is VERY talented and should be a bigger star than he already is. He's not quite up to the caliber of his papa, though. Haha.

Very cool that you got to see one of their best shows.
Tom Petty is a favorite of my sister (Bella) and my Mom also. We all got to go to that show together and they really rocked out for 2 solid hours - as good or better than the SB... which was awesome. Even being a Petty fan for so long I was still surprised at how good they were live.

I was disappointed during the Super Bowl. They didn't play my favorite song from them. When you went to the concert, did they play Listen to Her Heart?

I do think that Petty is underrated, but I think he is well respected by fans and his peers. Tom and The Heartbreakers obviously care about their music more than money or fame.
Yeah Jason they did play Listen to Her Heart...

Wow. What a long show. I would have definitely enjoyed going. Styx and REO Speedwagon are playing in town and it kills me that I can't afford it right now. I'd love to see them.

There's nothing worse than having a show that you really want to see coming close to you and not having anyway to get to see it. Well, I guess sliding down an 80 ft razor blade, nude, into a pool of iodine is probably worse... but how often does that happen  |
