If I had to pick it would be a tie between the original and dream warriors.
But, I love all of them though because each is so different. They follow the same story line, but each is so individual and unique. The first sets the tone, NOES2 is sinister and dark with weird creatures (like the human faced dogs, that was CREEPY!), NOES 3 stabilizes the story, NOES 4 teaches us about dreams, NOES 5 gives us a history lesson, NOES 6 gives us insight into Freddy's life, and New Nightmare is a rebirth for Freddy, with a darker and suspenseful twist.
