this is a cool little tid bit.... Did you know that the movie is actually based on a true story?
Nooooo... not the Freddy part!!
The idea behind A Nightmare On Elm Street came from a series of news articles from the LA Times. They were about teenagers in south east Asia who had immigrated with their families to the US. The teenagers all had a series of severe nightmares and they told their parents about them. In all cases, the parents had said "well, just get some sleep, you'll feel fine." The next time they slept they died.
The third teenager was convinced that he was right and that something really was trying to kill him in his dreams. So he stayed awake and refused to sleep. He was convinced that if he slept he would die so he stayed up for almost a week. His parents tried giving him sleeping pills and he would take them and spit them out. He finally fell asleep almost 5 days later. They took him to bed and in the middle of the night he was screaming and they ran to his room and he fell silent and he was dead
There have been TV specials on about it, apparently it's a big problem in Thailand, especially with kids who have just come out of relocation camps.
The articles were printed over a year and a half, however the stories were never correlated. No one ever commented from one to the next.
Creepy, eh?

Lol, damn if it is. Anyone he wishes to pick would be dead. That is creepy though. When was this? Recent?

I'd assume late 70's early 80's, as the original NOES was released in late 1984, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure if it's still a problem over there.... I haven't heard anything, but who knows?

If you have the ANOES boxset, on the special features disc they talk about this. This is off-topic, but does anyone know where I can download the ANOES font?
