The original Godzilla film that started it all. Released 2 years earlier, as Gojira in Japan, King of the Monsters is considered to have the best English dubbing of all the Big G's flicks. Raymond Burr was added in post-original production to make the American entry more appealing to U.S. movie goers. The plan worked and the rest is kaiju history.
I had to give this one a 7. As a huge Godzilla fan I appreciate the place the first project has in the franchise, but it doesn't stand the test of time as well as some of the later movies. It is the only Godzilla film that is a serious horror entry and that's what gives it the lasting appeal.
