the only one that i thoroughly enjoyed form start to finish were parts 1 & 2 and in my honest opinion thats where it should have ended
hellraiser was original, tight(what i mean is it didn't rely on many interesting characters especially where the cenobites are concerned), its dark somewhat vision created onscreen by barker, the acting was above average, and overall i was pleased as a horror fan by the end of it
hellbound:hellraiser part 2 was just EPIC in comparsion to part one in every way(even the main actors involved get to really show their fine acting skills)and i felt as though this one could have ended the series it would have fitting
i seen all the sequels after part 2 and to me all of them hurt the legacy of what was an outstanding two parter

Watch 1 and 2, skip 3, watch 4, then stop. Much like F13, the 4th should have been the end of it. A lot of people say the same thing about A Nightmare on Elm Street, but that there actually shouldn't have even been a sequel. I know that was Craven's idea. I believe he stated that he refuses to even watch the series. That's ridiculous. The ending of Nightmare 1 is so open to a sequel it would have been stupid to NOT make one. I think Nightmare 2 is one of the best horror sequels around, up there with F13 2 and Halloween 2, which I have a lot of regard for. Wes Craven is a shitty director and the first Nightmare is one of the only decent films he ever made. He should STFU and see what other directors did with his characters.

I dig some of Craven's work. Definitely not a favorite director for me, but I did enjoy Nightmare, Deadly Friend and The Thing.

Oops. I meant Swamp Thing. I also enjoyed The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes. He also had a few stinkers, though. People Under the Stairs and The Serpent and the Rainbow just bored me to tears.

People Under the Stairs and The Serpent and the Rainbow just bored me to tears. I couldn't get through LHOTL. I liked the remake better, and it wasn't even that good. THHE remake was better than the original too. I can't comment on the other two movies, cuz I haven't seen them. But Wes Craven, to me, is like a horror version of Joel Schumacher; made one good movie and otherwise sucks balls.

Didn't dig on Scream too much, I take it? As a parody, I suppose it was ok, but I don't like humour mixed in with my horror. I like humour alone, or horror alone. Don't mix. Scream started the whole slasher revival of the late 90's early 2000's, which produced progressively worse and worse movies like I Know What You Did etc and Urban Legend. Just terrible. Slasher was a phenomenon that reached its peak in the 80s and should be left there, for the most part. There are exceptions, like The Hills Have Eyes remake, Wrong Turn, Rob Zombie's Halloween, and the remake & prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but the "teen slasher" ones all sucked.

Have you seen Hatchet? I thought it was pretty good. The sequel as well. Pretty inventive, and an all star horror cast, to boot.
Scream I thought was excellent in some ways. But the movie overall was only good, for me. I love comedy in my horror when it's intentions are to not be taken seriously. Jack Frost and Chopping Mall, for example.
