Sorry for the climate inquisition, I'm strangely fascinated by such things...
The high desert, does that mean you guys don't get much moisture?

There is almost NO humidity, here. Which sounds amazing, doesn't it? It actually makes for a very, very painful headache. We got a little rain today, though.

That's about the only thing I don't like about our weather. In the summer the humidity is unbearable. When it's 100 outside and the humidity is over 80 percent it feels like you are going to die. You take a cold shower and you are sweating before you can get your clothes back on. And it's really hard to breathe. The worst part is that everyone that has been outside stinks ;D I don't think I could live with no humidity though. Every time I travel out of the South and the humidity, my allergies go bananas and I get sick. That happened this last time too and I only went as far as Texas. I seem to get that headache you are talking about. We went to the White Sands desert once in January and it was in the 90's. I can see how people thirst to death quickly. We needed water a lot because there was no humidity. But we didn't sweat at all, it was weird, but interesting. The place that I got the hottest in my life was in Florida. We were at a beach on the Gulf down near the Everglades in May one year. It was 105 with ridiculous humidity. That far South the sun is more direct and it feels like your skin will burst into flames. I usually thrive in the heat but that time I just wanted to go lay in a freezer.

Baker, California is unbelievably hot. I mean insane. I used to deliver there when I worked for Aaron's Furntiure. A normal day during the summer was about 120-125. With slight humidity. It is unbelievable. There are only about 400-600 residents, and it's basically a rest stop for Vegas travellers. I've never been as far out as Florida. The furthest I've been East was when I went to Tennessee. Before that? Colorado. It's amazing how much more green everything is once you get out of California and Utah. Colorado is gorgeous. I get the allergy problem, too. I had to go to the hospital countless times as a child because of my allergies, not so much related to the weather, but I'm pretty much allergic to every medicine there is. But, I do get allergies from the dryness out here. And yeah, that headache, it feels a little something like this...

It's about 68 this afternoon. It was probably in the 30s or 40s last night. I like cold weather.

I don't mind the cold, but 17 with a wind chill near zero is too early for late Fall... I had to go ahead and put plastic on the cool side windows and put wood chips in the dogs house... the ponds around here are already frozen over and there are some Winters that doesn't even happen at all. I don't think it got above freezing at my house all day... completely pointless if there is no snow I'll be used to it in a few days though, it just went from hot straight to freezing, with no cool in between. I wonder what Winter will be like.

68 was perfect, today. No breeze, either. I can't remember the last time we actually had a good day, out here.

68 is good, that's pretty close to what it was here (even at night) for a while before it just went all Arctic on us The freakin leaves haven't even all come down yet. It will probably get all those darned flies, gnats and mosquitoes though and they ain't nothing wrong with that.

Haha. Just a few days ago is when ALL The leaves scattered about town. There are leaves in the yard, down the street and eventually in my soup.
