I'd put Freddie in the same category as Lennon on the musical genius front, for sure... but with a vastly superior voice. *ducks trash thrown by Beatles fans* I love Croce too.

I think the Beatles are pretty overrated for their status, to be honest. They did influence most rock bands, but anyone there are tons of great bands in classic rock that surpassed them in greatness.

To me the Beatles legacy is not so much their on stage talent as it is how ahead of their time their music composition was. They are pretty much alone in that. They were doing things like sampling (decades before anyone else) and even scratching along with complex arrangements that still influence today. But I agree with you... there are plenty of other bands I'd rather listen to. I'd give you all the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and throw in Bob Dylan for Tom Petty. I'm sure that's blasphemy to a lot of people, but I don't think anyone ever has to apologize for their taste in music so I'll be...

I highly prefer Tom petty over Hendrix, Dylan and the Beatles combined, too.

Brooks & Dunn!!
I especially love the quote in 'Play Something Country
Yeah, the band took a break, The DJ played P Diddy. She said "I didn't come here to hear, Somethin' thumpin' from the city." Said "I, I shaved my legs, I paid my money. Ha-ooh-hoo, play somethin' country. Ha-ooh-hoo, aw, play somethin' country."

Play Somethin' Country is probably my favorite Brook n' Dunn song. I'm not a huge fan, but that's a great song.
