I don't know if this movie deserves a 9 on technical merit... but for the fun factor... which is usually how I grade a film, Gremlins is definitely a 9.

Definitely a fun film. The second one, too. I've been waiting to find the second on DVD for a decent price so I can watch them again. It's been years. I remember liking them both almost equally.
