I don't understand the hate for this one. I really enjoyed it. 8/10 Solid remake.

NOES 2010 is right on the 8/9 bubble for me. A part of me wants to think it's the best one I've ever seen... but another part keeps nagging at me saying "that's not exactly the Freddy you grew up on."
If you could some how go back in a time machine and take all the other Elm Street films from existence and this one could stand on it's own then I'd have a hard time not giving it a 10. Originality counts for something though and a lot of the power of the current Freddy flick comes about through the much storied legend already there as a foundation.
What I love about the film is that it goes it's own way. Yeah it's a copy... but not a carbon copy. And it's scary again, back to the origins. The effects are perfect! The acting is good and Jackie Early Haley is (different) as good a Krueger as Robert Englund... Yeah, I said it.
The only let down for me is that this time around I don't find myself pulling for Freddy at all... not even one little bit. And that's where my grade descends. The magic of the original Nightmares was that you couldn't help but pull for the slasher at times. The villain in this film is utterly dispicable to me. Yeah, that adds to the horror and fear factor, but I wanted to like him. It's hard not to like Haley's character.
All that said, I really enjoyed the new Elm Street romp and I'll probably watch it again soon. 8.5

I'll have to watch again, too. Right now it feels like a 7 or 8, but it has been a while. I've seen SO much hate for this film and I don't see a reason for it. But this also came from people who thought the Psycho remake was far better than the original That is the worst remake of all time, in my opinion. I thought this was a solid remake. Would've probably picked a different lead guy, but either way, I liked it, a lot.

You mean the lead guy who looked like Jay Cutler's younger hobbit brother? ;D

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an accurate description I don't know if you've seen Psycho or the remake, but the remake is a shot for shot, word for word copy of the original. Not that that's such a terrible thing, but what made it unbearable was the fact that the acting was probably the worst I'd ever seen. Sure, they recited the same lines, but it looked like they were 8 year olds reading A Tale of Two Cities.

They would shut the forum down for doing that, but you can find it really cheap now on Amazon or Ebay.
