I saw the edited version of this on TV as a kid and loved it. I watched the entire movie again on DVD a couple years ago and it wasn't as good as I remembered but I still enjoyed it. I'll give it a strong 7.
With all the scantily clad ladies running around including Farrah Fawcett... I would have enjoyed it even more as a kid if I'd got to see the real version ;D

I think you would probably like it.
They had a TV show that lasted only a season that I liked even better than the movie... but I haven't seen an episode in decades so I'd be curious to see how I'd like it now.
They are planning a remake (of nearly everything) due in 2012. I noticed it on the IMDB when I got the info for the post. It says they are decreasing the death age to 21... probably to relate to the teen population. I'll definitely buy a ticket for it if it ever makes it to the theater.
By the way if you click on the poster in the initial post there is an awesome horizontal spread poster for the film - it's one of the best I've seen.
