How Would You Survive An Alien Attack?

As shown in War of the Worlds Ray Ferrier packed a box of food, and things he'll need such as batteries and a gun. He also took shelter in some basements and tried to find ways to save his children and stop the aliens when they were close to killing them.

How would you survive one? I would pack a bag/box filled with food and water as well as batteries, a cell phone, some weapons, and of course a car. If I end up surviving, then thank the lord!

Believe it or not I have most of that stuff here at home. I have several frame backpacks and backpacking tents. I've got all the little gadgets to carry along too like ziplock bags of matches and mini portable stoves etc... That comes more from being an avid outdoorsman than a scifi expert though. ;D

If there is a big battle going on and you have to evacuate then you'd want to get out of big cities and towns and head for the country. The most important thing to have would be a way to get clean water. They sell portable water purifiers that will filter even really dirty mudhole water and such... one of those would be the most useful thing to have.

Secondly you will need food... having a shotgun or rifle would be ideal to get larger game but fish are much easier a lot of the time. Just having string and a few fish hooks in your survival kit is pretty smart as you can easily find bait near where the fish live... fish always eat what lives around them. A small guide booklet on edible plants in your area is a good idea too.

The third thing to think of is warmth and dry clothing. Depending on the climate where you live you will probably need a sleeping bag. Comfortable shoes and socks are crucial because blistered feet will kill you if you need to run from aliens, zombies, Deliverance rednecks etc... Take at least 2 pairs of socks and keep one pair drying in the sun or air so that you can change often.

Other little tools and items can be of great use. GPS and cell phones will probably quit working when the aliens knock out our satellites and most likely hit our cities with an [[EMP]] blast. So a compass and area map could be priceless. Weapons to keep other scavengers out of your shit are nice to have. And of course knives, camp saws, small multitools and lots of matches or lighters will be worth their weight in gold.
