My main annoyance with Mark Cuban was his outburst against Denver in the Western Conference semi finals. Oy.
I don't get nearly as upset about any other sport as I do with football, either. I grew up a DIE hard, while I simply supported other fellow Colorado teams until more recenty years.
I don't follow NCAA too deeply. Am I missing out on greatness?

For me the NCAA basketball tournament is the most competitive sporting event. It's all so final yet so fairly done. Football would be brilliant set up like that. The NBA games feel like scrimmages or exhibitions after watching the pace of the college games.
I can't say if you are missing anything or not. I don't know how much I'd love it if I wasn't so attatched to the ACC teams that surround my area. I grew up with it. My Dad taught me to pull for the local teams (much like you and me will pull for the AFC). He always said if the other teams in the ACC lose then it just makes our favorites look bad. I'm really glad it got ingrained in me like that because now I feel like I have so many favorite teams. UNC, Duke and Clemson are my top 3 but I'll pull for them all in the tournament.
My guess is that you'd love it if you got into it. It's not the best of the best as far as individual talent goes... but I think the Olympics has proved that team chemistry and team ball will trump talent alone every time. It took coach K installing that college/european hybrid style to bring gold back to the USA.
It's the reason you won't see too many NBA vs NCAA exhibitions. I'd say that teams like Duke, Kentucky, Kansas etc... would win more than they'd lose against most NBA teams. And I definitely think that the NCAA champ would fair pretty well in the Olympics just like the old days.
That stuff wouldn't work in football. The worst NFL team would destroy the best college team. The size and speed difference is just to great. Basketball is just a different sport. You need cardio shape for sure... but the mental is way more important than the physical in roundball.

I try to catch the NCAA tournaments when they're on. I have a soft spot for Kansas since we stopped and visited the University on the way to the Broncos Titans game in October. I try to support teams with good people and good fan bases. I also like North Carolina and Clemson. I hear Duke fans are horrid, but I haven't seen anything. Yeah, the NFL and NHL rely heavily on athletic talent while NBA and MLB is more mental talent. It feels good knowing my Broncos could whoop Auburn.

People just hate duke because they win every year. And I can understand that. I just happen to be 1 of those terrible fans.

That makes sense. People either jump on the bandwagon of the championship teams or just decide to hate them because they're good.
I'm seeing more Packer fans than ever, now, and I never saw a Saints fan around here until they won a Super Bowl. BOOOO Bandwagoners.... BOOO!!!

Like all the 49ers and Cowboys fans... WTF? There are so many of those around here... like any of these rednecks could even point out either of those Illinois cities out on a map Much less spell Dallus or San Fransisko.

Hahaha. I can understand having 49ers fans here, I mean, I am in California. But there are far more Cowboys fans than 49ers fans, here. A lot of people are just fans of teams because they're either; Hot right now, or it's the cool thing to do. Once, a gangbanger looking guy came into a sports store at the mall where I was looking around. He asked one of the employees "How much is that... "Awe-so-mah-gah" jersey". He was referring to Nnamdi Asomugha. Can't even pronounce the most well known players name on the team. Why spend 100 bucks on a jersey if you clearly don't follow football. I guess it's a gang thing. They actually sell Raiders knives at a place in the mall, too. Ones with blades as big as my hand

That's better than what I call Asomugha ;D I shouldn't though, he seems like a really good guy. I could understand it if people were just trying to be different by picking a team other than the local one. But they aren't being different are they? Everyone does it. Humans... what can you do with them?

I guess I'm guilty of that, too. I was born and raised in California, but I only support Colorado teams.

That's different, you have an actual reason and you didn't do the bandwagon thing. Just like me with Miami. Yeah I was born down there but I was raised a Carolina boy my entire life (minus that first year). I'm talking about those clowns like my Mom who jump on the Dallas bandwagon just because it's the cool thing to do ;D At least she does stick with them even when they lose.
