Name a band you think started out great, and became shit. The band that fell from the highest of highs, and ended up in the sewer.
There are a few that come to my mind, but Black Sabbath are certainly on my list of finalists for this dubious honour. The first 4 albums are just phenomenal...and then....well....

Not artists that begin in the toilet, MTC. Interesting topic. I'll have to give this some thought.

I'm not a huge fan of their earlier stuff, but I'd take anything they wrote in the 70's over their 90's shit like Amazin'/ Crazy / Cryin' or whatever rock ballad garbage they were churning out at that time.

I feel the same way about Aerosmith, Simon. I do dig a good deal of their older stuff, but a lot of there newer stuff isn't very high on my list.
I'm not too big a fan of Metallica, but St. Anger just didn't even feel like the same band.

I've got some different music tastes than you guys... I like a lot of the same stuff, but I also grew up listening to synth/dance pop and hip-hop... so I'm thinking along these lines also.
The first one that comes to mind for me is The Pet Shop Boys. Their early stuff is legendary and while the music they've made since is not terrible... compared to the first few albums... well it doesn't compare.
More along the Rock lines, Marii and I are both big Bon Jovi fans, but finding a decent song on their more recent albums is pretty tough. Finding a bad one was tough on the early releases.
And I'm right there with you on Aerosmith J... I love the original stuff!
