Everett was another I liked... And Jim Rome... IS burning It appears that my hesitation on Luck may be unfounded... he looks to be the real deal. It is, however, just the preseason. I told you Russell Wilson was my sleeper pick this year. He is the shizznitttt! I am seriously looking forward to Seattle's offense this season, it should be a blast to watch. This year should be a lot of fun... at least 5 rookie QBs starting!!! Plus Manning is back and there are lots of exciting rooks to watch out for. Miami is killing me, we just traded our best corner to Indy for a 2nd round pick WTF!!! I let them slide with the B. Marshall thing but then they haven't went out and gotten a #1 WR so we have the worst WR corps on paper. A young, PB quality corner should demand a 1st round pick PLUS!!! That solidified rebuilding mode for the Fins, no doubt. We will enjoy another high draft pick next year. At least I get to see Carolina try to make a step forward.

Man, that Cam Newton is just so cool. One of my favorite players outside of Denver. So versatile, and just a good guy from what I see in the interviews. Looking forward to playing Carolina this year!! But also nervous.

WTF were the replacement refs looking at at the end of the GB vs Seattle game? Gotta hand it to the Packers for showing the class to come out for the extra point. I can't say I would have. Looks like Cam is trying to fight off a sophomore slump, but I don't get some of the flack he is getting... goes with popularity though... and he does need to learn keep his emotions a bit more in check. He'll get it. Some dufus, the other day, on Yahoo sports posted that "Fig Newton is just another black running back who tosses it every once in awhile ala Vick and VY" (it was a Pats fan, go figure). I had to set him straight and remind him that CAM Newton threw for over 4,000 yards with a higher accuracy percentage than Vick and Young could even dream about... and only a racist, idiot, Patsy fan would confuse him with a RB... Peyton Manning on the other hand... he is starting just like I figured, slowly. He always seemed to start like that especially when coming off a long layoff from playing. I see him gelling with his new offense and getting hot in the second half of the season. I just hope he stays healthy... and like I've said before... the Broncos might be my AFC pick to play in the World Series

The only way I see Cam getting flack is the fact that he's losing more than winning. But that's not all HIS fault.
A friend brought up an interesting thought, today. When was the last time a quarterback known for his scrambling ability over his throwing ability won a Super Bowl? Good question. Steve Young, maybe. But he was a great passer, too, though. It really made me think. But I also thought about the ratio of passing quarterbacks compared to scrambling quarterbacks. There are a lot, and have been a lot more passing quarterbacks than scramblers.
This game might be the worst officiated game ever. They even blew it on the review. They missed the push off, and even after the review they gave the catch to the guy who clearly didn't.
Oh, well. Russell Wilson will go down as the first quarterback in NFL history to throw a game winning interception.

Oh, well. Russell Wilson will go down as the first quarterback in NFL history to throw a game winning interception. LMAO at that The interference just made it all the more sadly comical! I saw a headline that called it 'The Immaculate Interception'. ;D I think you are right on the scrambler ratio thing, coaches just play passers more than scramblers... and rightfully so as they are more oft injured - which would also factor into that equation. Until there are a few more coaches - like Fox with Tebow - who change their offense to totally reflect the scrambler's ability... I think we may never see a 'runner' win a SB. As for Steve Young... (not that I'll compare Cam to him yet) that is kind of my point with Newton. He is DEFINITELY a great passer who can run as opposed to vice-versa. I put him in the category with Aaron Rodgers, Steve Young, Mark Brunell etc... not with Vick and VY. Plus don't forget about the greatest scrambling passer who ever lived... Elway - I think he won a couple of Super Bowls ;D All of those guys could live on their arms alone if you broke their legs. Young retired as the highest rated passer EVER. On that note, I'm loving what I've seen from our new QB Ryan Tannehill - as a former WR he can really move fast - more importantly he is accurate like Newton is on the run.

I've already seen tons of improvment with Tannehill, just in the first three games. I'm hoping he kicks it in gear all season for you. I typed in "John Elway gif" into google for the hell of it yesterday and this came up... I don't remember if I saw this live, or if I have a John Elway highlight on VHS that has it, but it brought back fond memories as a kid. Also, JEEZ WHAT A PLAY

Heck, I'd never sort that play out from a thousand others by Elway. That was his fort-ay. It's also a perfect example of what Cam can do... he is sooo much like Elway. He's not there yet (neither was Elway early) but if he can strengthen his short passing game and screens... watch out!!! He has the deep ball accuracy and strength against the rush (like in the gif).
I'm not saying it's a racism thing so nobody go ranting about that - but I think a lot of people fail to compare Newton and a few other black passers to some of the all-time greats... just because of them being black. It just comes easier to throw them in with a far lesser pool of players like VY, Kordell, JaMarcus Russell and Vick etc.... Like I said I don't think it's a racism thing just a point where people overlook the obvious.
RG3... I'm failing to find a comparison for him... but it's certainly not the busts I mentioned above. (I know Kordell and Vick weren't total busts).
Cam is fast but he is not Vick fast... he's Elway fast. Just like Elway Cam has the body of a defensive lineman. I've stood right next to him... he's a hulking, towering guy. Cam's running style is identical to Tim Tebow... the difference is the passing skills. No we never saw Elway run the option in Denver... but would he have been as effective as Newton and Tebow? F#$k yeah he would have!!!

Can't believe I missed this post. RGIII's rookie year is pretty reminiscent of Cam's. Except Cam didn't get injured every other play. That;s the thing about Shanahan, though. He recognizes what your talent is quickly, and he will exploit it on the field. He's a great coach, but I think his better years are behind him. And holy hell, you called it on Russell Wilson. I wasn't sure if he'd start, but I expected him to beat out Flynn, as he rightfully did and has been on a roll. Pete Carroll is also a major contribution to the Seattle success.

Well, I did pretty good on the 3 qbs this year Wilson, Luck and Griffin... I got 2 out of 3 and I give myself a few bonus points for pointing out Russell before anybody else.
The one that has surprised me is Luck. Not that I thought he'd fail, I just didn't know how he'd react to actually having to pass and run an NFL offense. He was in a power rushing attack while in college and never really threw the ball to wrs. He is going to be GREAT!
I have to touch on the Cam subject just once more. Where are all the haters now? Bitches... now while he has the highest PASSER rating in the NFL over the last 10 games and hasn't thrown an int in... forever. His stats dwarf RG3, Rodgers, Ryan, Luck, Brees, Brady and any others you want to bring in the argument except maybe Manning and (no offense J) but his numbers are slightly better than Peyton's during that 10 game stretch. His completion percentage, yards per pass and TD/INT ratio are approaching ridiculous! Amd no I'm not looking up the stats right now, any haters can look them up themselves since they did so much research on their statements after the first 4 or 5 games... End of rant...
I meant to put up my Superbowl prediction earlier this season. I'd certainly have a different NFC team but my AFC pick has never wavered since preseason.
At this point I'm going to call it a return to an old lost rivalry:
Broncos - 23 Seahawks - 20

I knew Cam was doing good, I didn't know he was doing THAT good. I remember the NFL analysts giving him a bunch of crap at the beginning of the season. Recently they said he was a great Fantasy scorer, but that's all I heard.
The Seahawks are looking scary good, but the thing is, they are a good home team. Unless they manage to steal the division, or even the #2 seed I would probably pick them to head tot the Super Bowl, but as it is, they're #5, and will have to win them all on the road, and I just don't see it happening.
f Denver actually manages to make it to the Super Bowl, it is almost a lock that there will be a Super Bowl rematch of some sort. Denver has faced Dallas, New York, Washington, San Francisco, Green Bay and Atlanta. 3 of those 6 teams have already secured a spot in the playoffs, with a possible 5th former Super Bowl opponent clinching the final spot.
Atlanta, Green Bay and San Francisco are the three that clinched. The other three teams that Denver played in the Super Bowl are all in the NFC East, where a certain winner will emerge as the NFC West Champs and another possible 5th spot, as well. The only damper in the playoff picture for a Super Bowl rematch are the Seahawks, who are actually a former division rival of the Broncos.
My pick, though:
Denver vs. Green Bay
