The list is ok, overall. Very disappointed with #1.

The list is ok, overall. Very disappointed with #1. I can see the guy's point of view...Aliens are pretty damn scary. They're not afraid of anything but fire, they're cunning, they're merciless, amoral, tough and brutal. But they are that way by design; they can't help the way they are any more than a great white shark can help the way it is, or a mouse, or a dragonfly... I think truly scary villains are the ones who choose to do horrible things. Psychopaths; those who are not crazy, and know the difference between right and wrong, and chose to do wrong because they don't give a fuck. Hannibal Lecter would definitely be one of those. He's much scarier than a Xenomorph.

I'm surprised he wasn't even on the list, Lecter.
Alien just didn't appeal to me. The scariest villain for me was Pazuzu (Reagan) from The Exorcist. No film, or film character, ever terrified me to such a massive extent.

No film, or film character, ever terrified me to such a massive extent. I found Simon from Session 9 very scary, and you never see him or the woman he's possessing, (other than a couple of old photographs). You only ever hear his voice. And it's one of the most terrifying voices in cinema. On top of that, the final line of the film, one of the creepiest and most unsettling lines in horror movie history, is his. "And where do you live, Simon?" -"I live...in the weak, and the wounded...DOC..." Like it says on the list I posted, the full implications of that line just cling to your mind and refuse to go away, and they don't leave you with a nice feeling.

Session 9 was a pretty good flick, I thought. I need to revisit it, but I did enjoy it.
It's a slow burn, for anyone interested, so be patient with it.

This list lost any credibility to me as soon as I realized that hilarious thing from the Ring was on it and Hannibal Lecter is not. That goofy Ring girl almost ruined a really scary movie for me I laughed so hard out loud. If the rest of the film wasn't so realistic and great it would have killed it. But... I still love it. There are several on here I don't know... several I agree with and some that don't belong and a few I would add. Those space body snatcher things from Lifeforce scared the shit out of me when I was a kid! This is the movie that scared me most when I was younger, Communion is a close second and it actually scared my as a young adult. Lifeforce SceneLifeforce Trailer: Not scary but the only trailer I ever saw with boobies lol... Space vampire snatcher body boobies I see both sides on the Alien thing. If you get into the movie those creatures are as completely terrifying as can be. I find creatures that kill because it is what they do the most scary of all as opposed to killers that just do it for fun. On the other side of the coin... I'd find myself putting the Xenomorphs in a group with (of course) Predator, Pod People, The Thing, War of the Worlds aliens, ID4 aliens, insects from Starship Troopers etc... While scary as crap these guys don't compare well with Freddy, Jason, Hannibal and company.
