That's a stunning work of art Mark. I'd love to hear more about it. What is it on and what did you do it with pencils?
And don't get mtc3po started lol...

Thanks for the kind words (and insight too). I've got roughly 90+ hours of drawing time invested in the 19"x24" original thus far. I'm trying to capture horror films that have left an impression on me. I've always gravitated towards horror films. I find so many of the current ones absolute crap (ie: the horrid SCREAM series). This drawing is meant for real fans of films that have truly frightening story-lines or characters. I want this drawing to showcase elements of humanity throughout it, so I'm not displaying aliens that aren't humanoid or sharks. I'm drawing the original on 100lb Vellum (acid-free). I outline my layout with an H pencil lead. Then apply all of my varying lights & darks with 2B,B,HB & H leads. Between the application of each lead, I smudge my work with small paper stomps .... great for achieving softer textures like skin & certain fabrics. Today, I outlined the 'mutant' from THE HELLS HAVE EYES that enters the RV and Norman Bates (as he would have appeared to Janet Leigh's character in the shower). After this, I'm going to draw Jason from FRIDAY THE 13TH and I'm going to have him holding my very own severed head. I figure its a cool way to personalize the content of the artwork. When finished, I plan on marketing limited edition prints of 'THE DAMNED', numbered & signed by me. This has been thee most enjoyable drawing I've ever done and I've drawn over 1000 images in the last 20 years. More of my work can be seen on www.marktumber.com .

I spent the whole day drawing Hannibal Lecter on THE DAMNED and he looks awesome! A client came by the studio today and ordered a pretty cool commission ............. a 16"x20" collage of THE WALKING DEAD. As I usually get hired to draw family & pet portraits, this is a great change. Unfortunately, he wants only particular characters drawn and he's omitted my favourites. I've been hired to draw only Rick, Daryl, Maggie, the Governor, Michone and a bunch of zombies. It'll be a great composition ... but I would of liked to add Glen, Andrea, Carol, Merle & Hershel. Oh well.

Its worth catching up on. Season 1 & 3 are great. Other than the last episode of Season 2, that year sucked. I've emailed you an update on the drawing. It now has .... THE HILLS HAVE EYES, PSYCHO, ROSEMARY'S BABY, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. I bought REC last week. I love this movie. I'm going to add the thin zombie woman to my drawing. She is authentically frightening!

Well after 160 hours of drawing, THE DAMNED is now completed. (Its been emailed to you, Jason. Please post on my behalf.) I have 150 limited edition prints available of THE DAMNED. They are 19"x25", printed on hot press, acid-free watercolor stock. Each is numbered & signed by me. Each print is accompanied by a glossy legend, explaining the identity of each of the 26 films/characters/scenes represented. (As a funny footnote, its my very own severed head in the hand of Jason Voorhees.) Each limited edition print is $150 + shipping. Email me at markdraws@hotmail.com if you are interested in purchasing one of these tributes to horror.
