Hi all, I just joined. I'm a freelance illustrator from north of Toronto, Ontario. Since 1993, I've been drawing any & all subjects in a photo-realistic manner. My work has been published in many newspapers , magazines, etc. I'm currently working on a 20"x24" original celebrating the genre of horror films. I'm going to have 20+ movies represented within the rendering. I'll be marketing this (via limited edition prints) at galleries throughout Ontario and online to those interested outside of Canada. In the last 2 weeks, I've drawn images/characters from SILENT HILL, INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, NOSFERATU, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, THE RING & THE THING. These are filling the upper LHS corner. In the remaining 75% of the drawing, I'm hoping to include ...... SAW, THE SHINING, PSYCHO, HELLRAISER, AMITYVILLE HORROR, FRIDAY THE 13TH, HALLOWEEN, THE EXORCIST, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, LET THE RIGHT ONE IN & even the wet rubber ball from THE CHANGELING. Can you think of any other great character from a horror film that I missed? I'm contemplating the chauffeur from BURNT OFFERINGS. Do you think he's well-known enough? I don't want Freddy .... as I personally find him more cheesy than scary. I also want to avoid showing JAWS or ALIEN, as they introduce characters without an element of humanity. I'd love to have your input on this creation. Its been such a joy to draw. www.marktumber.com

You could try Herbert West, of Re-Animator.

I've never seen Re-Animator. After your suggestion, I googled some images of Herbert. I must admit that all of the visuals looked kinda comical. I truly want this drawing to reflect the 'horror' within our favourite genre. After I've drawn a few more characters and have the image half done, I'll post its progress here. It'll be cool to get feedback from some of the members here.

Re-Animator is easily one of the greatest horror films I've ever seen. It is one of the most unique films in the horror genre. You will never see another movie like it.
You may enjoy drawing Ginger Snaps. It's a werewolf film.

Yeah, I forgot about Ginger Snaps. That's a Canadian film, I think, eh? I'll have to check out Re-Animator.... thanks for your suggestions! I'm going to try to make room for one of the mutants from THE HILLS HAVE EYES too. This morning I'll be finishing the creature from THE THING and starting the SAW puppet.

I emailed you a watermarked version of the drawing thus far, Jason. Could you post it here? I can never get Photobucket to work properly.

Looks really good, to me. Very detailed.
30 Days of Night might also be fun for you to draw.

Thanks so much, Jason. The lead vampire in '30 Days Of Night' would be a great addition. I loved the winter locale of that movie ... puts a whole new spin on the traditional vampire flick.
