A surprisingly good, DTV low-budget movie about a man obsessed with the idea that Mary Shelley's novel was not a novel at all, but an actual account of a scientific breakthrough in genetics.
The man, a descendant of the 19th century doctor upon whom Dr Frankenstein was based, gets a film crew together and travels to the Arctic, where he believes the creature his great x 5 grandfather created still lurks.
It may sound dumb, but it's actually pretty damn good. There's a character in it, a local man who serves as the guide for the expedition, who is an obvious nod to Capt. Quint of Jaws fame, right down to the Irish accent and the horror story he tells in their cabin one night about some men he knew who were attacked by a polar bear.
Now, DON'T shy away from it because it has the word "Frankenstein" in the title. Most movies with that name in the title are pieces of shit, but not this one. Relatable characters, good pacing, no overuse of special effects, (well, no special effects at all really....it relies on creating tension and suspense, like many classic horror movies).
Another strength of the film is the fact they don't let you really see the creature until almost the end, another classic device used in such films as (again) Jaws, Predator and Alien.
The only thing I can think of to warn you about is the "found footage" style of the film. The shaky hand-held cam thing pisses some people off, but if that doesn't bother you, then I recommend this movie for sure.

I have never watched this movie, but the story line seems pretty cool to me. I'm gonna see if I can get this one. Thanks for recommending.
