Sorry if this isn't the first thread about this movie, but I couldn't find any recent threads with it in the title. Overall, I liked this movie a lot. Found it much smarter and more tense than the average slasher film, and I liked the twist of a trained survivalist being one of the targeted victims. 2 things about the movie really bothered me though.... (Spoilers below) 1. So halfway through we find out that (at least) one of the siblings has orchestrated this whole thing so that he can inherit his parents' money. That's fine, but what I couldn't get past is if you're trying to kill your parents and older siblings, is this REALLY the best way to do it? Bring your family together, along with a bunch of random people that don't need to die, and just start murdering them one by one using knives, crossbows, and other stabbing weapons? Why couldn't you have just led them into the house and then blown up the house? Or throw a grenade through the dining room window? Or, if you want to preserve the house, have the murderers hide outside the house, and once they are all in the dining room, murder everyone with an automatic weapon? They could have purchased very common ammunition and picked up the casings to make sure they didn't leave any evidence behind. I mean, really, it seems like there are so many better, more efficient ways of murdering a group of people. 2. Bothered me less than #1, but also halfway through the movie, why did the soundtrack suddenly sound like it came straight out of Tron? I understand that the movie had some comedic elements, but the bizarre shift in soundtrack wasn't funny and was just plain bizarre. Anyone else have a similar reaction to these two points? Thanks for the spoiler warning. I haven't seen it yet.
I planned on seeing it a weekend or two ago, but it already left the major theaters. There is a dollar theater nearby that plays some of the more recent movies that just left the big ones. So I'll just wait until it comes out there.
