Does anyone watch this? The second episode made me lose respect for Matt Hughes, he says "I don't have time to turn a mediocre fighter, into a great fighter". You know something, thats what you're there for. To breed a fighter to be good enough for the UFC, but apparently you're too good for that. I hope the winner of the Ultimate Fighter ends up kicking your ass and winning your title

I'm a fan of the show. I can relate to what your saying. I don't know too much about this Matt Hughes guy. Have only seen him in a fight or two. That was harsh of him to say though especially when it comes to the guys who are serious about being UFC fighters. You can't be the best forever and there will come a time when somebody will knock you down a notch or two.

i think to justify what he said: just compare it to when that show was on MTV for WWE called Tough Enough (or sometihng like that). the people on that show were basically given something that others have worked their asses off their entire lives to become. the people who were on the show like Maven, Nidia, Jackie, even Josh works for them now got everything handed to them. instant fame, instant noteriety, etc. the people who were lucky enough to be "casted" for TUF will suddenly be recognizable names. they get instant celeb status, (which is what happened with Forest Griffin.) Poeple like Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin, Andrei Arlovski, etc. worked their asses off to get to their points. So i'm assuming there's gotta be some animosity from the coaches since they worked hard to get to the point there at while these guys are instant celebs they should go hard on them to keep them grounded. <---------I love that similie

They've trained all their lives just like the coaches have. In order to make it into the UFC you've got to have TONS of experience just for Dana White to even consider providing a contract for you. Matt Hughes made it seem as though he's sooo much better than everyone there. They he's only there because its something he has to do. If you dont want to do it then just quit.

I see the point you are making Jason. I guess when I heard it, I kind of took as him saying that he felt like some of the fighters needed more time then others to become good enough to make it to the next level. For example, a great stand up guy needing to learn take down defense or ground skills would take some time to gain those skills and learn them well enough to be effective. That is how I took that, but I do see what you are saying.

Yeah, but this was during the (you could call it) draft. He said when he was about to pick the fighters, he wanted to pick the best because he doesnt have time to turn a mediocre fighter into a great fighter. And you could say he got it rubbed in his face already. The last guy picked went to Hughes team, and the last guy picked ended up winning the competition.

I understand what you are saying. I thought that guy would win because the guy with the shoulder injury was really worried about it. I guess I don't know how it felt, but he seemed so worried I thought he would lose.

The first fight was awesome. Everyone thought Melvin would beat that other guy. But he ended up losing. I think he deserved to lose. The only reason why most thought he would win was because of his mouth. He bragged and boasted 24/7 that he was so damn good and that you'll regret fighting him blah blah blah. and he was the first eliminated through a fight.
